Raoul Wallenberg Vegan International (Vegan International) is a 50cl3 Not-For-Profit Charity, and United Nations Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Applicant.
The purpose of Vegan International is to educate individuals, civil society groups, and governments about the benefits of plant-based vegan ideals, and the detriments of the meat and dairy based diet for human health, well-being of other species, and survival of the planet.
The benefits of the vegan ideals include optimal human health, sustainable use of resources, enlightened agriculture, poverty reduction, reduced carbon footprint, compassion, peace and justice for the planet and all its inhabitants.
The detriments of non-human exploitation include severe human health consequences – including the Non-Communicable Diseases, Pandemics, Anti- Microbial Resistance; environmental degradation – including pollution of land, water and air, global warming, biodiversity loss, species extinction, deforestation, unsustainable use of scarce resources; and a culture of injustice for all sentient beings.
Vegan International has applied for Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), participates with the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations System Standing Committee on Nutrition (UNSCN), and promotes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Vegan International seeks to promote a culture of peace, justice and compassion, and ‘a place at the table’ for all on planet Earth, with ‘no one’ – of any species – ‘left behind’ including all species, nature and the planet.
Vegan International hopes to achieve a United Nations Convention Against Speciesism. The goal of this proposed enforceable initiative is to end discrimination against perceived inferior, non-human, species. This would follow the United Nations Convention Against Genocide, United Nations Convention Against Torture, United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Raoul Wallenberg, the organization’s namesake, was the Swedish Diplomat who saved 100,000 innocent lives during World War II. Raoul Wallenberg Vegan International (Vegan International) seeks to continue Wallenberg’s legacy of courage, compassion, and determination to, as he did, accomplish seemingly impossible goals with simple solutions to complex problems.
‘Vegan’ is about compassion. It is about making the world a better place, not only for people, but for the billions of other inhabitants of this planet whose lives and well-being have been overlooked, sometimes driven to extinction, and usually used as vehicles for providing human satisfactions of all types.
‘Vegan’ is about providing a simple solution to complex global issues.
The Vegan benefits include optimal health and nutrition, sustainable use of resources, enlightened agriculture, poverty reduction, a reduced carbon footprint, compassion, peace and justice for nature, the planet, and all its inhabitants. A whole-food, plant-based diet is rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, has little fat, no cholesterol, tastes and looks delicious.
Vegan is not a form of depravation. It is a lifestyle which embraces life, and life lived to the fullest. Vegan holds the promise of a healthier population, sustainability, and kindness, compassion and justice for all individuals of all species, nature and planet Earth.
Everyone deserves justice, and a United Nations ‘Place at the table’ regardless of species. The UN motto, “Leave no one behind”, should apply to everyone on planet Earth, not just to one species – humans.
“Non-human animals are sentient beings not mere property and must be afforded respect and legal recognition” UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The Vegan International goals are accomplished through the website, the quarterly Newsletters, by participating in UN Conferences, partnering with other NGOs and UN Agencies, meeting with Representatives of Governments, and educating the public.
